R Park is a charming, 5.4-acre park located at heart of a friendly neighborhood in Roeland Park, Kansas. Officially designated as a City park in 2010, it sits on the site of the former Roeland Park Elementary School at  5535 Juniper Drive. With wide open green spaces, walking paths, athletic courts and playground equipment it is the perfect place for families to enjoy the outdoors together.

R Park, your park

R Park is truly a people’s park. In 2014, residents of Roeland Park formed the Citizens Fundraising Initiative for R Park. This grassroots group with the actions and support of Mayor Joel Marquardt and the City Council is dedicated to ensuring the master plan for enhancements to the park is realized. Our mission is to raise funds and work with the City Parks and Trees Committee to improve the mental, physical and social well-being and overall wellness of the community. Comprised of eight dedicated men and women, we receive help and support from members of the community like you.

Have you been to R Park recently or are you there right now? Send us your photos and tell us what you think. You might just show up on this website!

Help us take on our biggest challenge yet by helping raise funds to build a medium-sized community picnic shelter in R Park.

Citizens have already raised more than $25,000 toward the estimated $150,000 shelter, but we need your help to keep this momentum going! You can join our efforts by mailing in a check made out to Roeland Park Community Foundation, memo: R Park Shelter to:

Roeland Park City Hall
4600 W. 51st Street
Roeland Park, KS 66205

You can also make a credit card donation in person at City Hall. Make sure to tell them your donation is for the R Park Shelter.

All donations are tax-deductible and to show our appreciation, we will list all donors on the Roeland Park website and in the City’s “Roeland Parker” newsletter.

Please help us make this shelter project a reality with your donation and help move us one step closer to making R Park a destination spot for the enjoyment and well-being of the community.
